"Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was born in 1913.

Graduated from the Department of Architecture at Milan Polytechnic in 1937.

Co-wrote a libel on the Milan Town Planning Scheme: ""Fifty Significant Squares in the Milan of the Future"" with the architect Carlo Pagani in 1938.

In 1937, he established the ""Architecture, Urban Buildings and Research into Industrial Design"" practice with his brother Livio. In 1952 Livio left; another brother, Achille joined the practice in 1944.

Lecturer and Assistant in Architectural Composition, Professor in Drawing and Relief Work at the Milan Faculty of Architecture.

Member of the Board at the Association of Architects and at the Milan City Council Building Commission.

Member of the executive committee for the 13th Triennale in 1964.

Pier Giacomo Castiglioni received numerous prizes and awards, including the ""Compasso d' Oro"" in 1955, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1967, 1979.

He exhibited at every Milan Triennale from 1940 on, winning many awards, including: the Bronze Medal at the VIII Triennale in 1947, Grand Prize at the IX Triennale in 1951, and at the X Triennale in 1954, Gold Medal at the XI Triennale in 1957 and at the XII in 1960, Silver Medal at the XI in 1957 and at the XIII in 1964. For the latter, based on the theme ""Leisure time, living time"", Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was a member of the Executive Committee.

Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was a member of numerous juries:
In 1956, 1957 and 1958 for ""La Rinascente Compasso d' Oro""; La Triennale of Milan; Formica-Domus Competition; Abitare-De Padova Competition; International Cantù Furniture Competition.

He was particularly active as the curator of exhibition installations for national and international institutes and leading companies attending national and international exhibitions: Montecatini, RAI, ENI, Triennale di Milano, Mostre Esposizioni Torino, ""Italia 61"", AGIP.

His works have been displayed and are currently being exhibited at:
Museum of Modern Art, New York (22 works at present); Royal Institute of British Architects, London; Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris; Palais du Centenaire, Brussels; Modern Art Museum, Sao Paulo (Brazil); Prima Esposicion de disegno industrial di Buenos Aires (Argentina)

His studies and projects in the field of urban planning include:
Historical study on the development of Milan; Study of the existing environmental conditions in the towns on the eastern side of the lake of Lecco; Project for the urban refurbishment of the Corso Magenta, Via Brentano, Via Illica, Via Puccini area in Milan; Project for a the new tourist-hotel resort in Morbegno; Project for the urban refurbishment of the Neppi hillside in Canzo, a private suburb with 16 homes, a hotel-restaurant, sports fields; Project for the refurbishment of Piazza Cavour in Como

His architectural studies and projects include:
New premises for the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Milan in Via Meravigli; Reconstruction of the premises and exhibition rooms at the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente (Company for Fine Arts and Permanent Exhibitions) in Milan; Construction of a multi-level building in Via Turati in Milan; Construction of the exhibition pavilion for Italian Radio at the Milan Fair complex and new entrance to the Auditorium; Exhibition building for Safix at the Verona Agricultural Exhibition; Reconstruction of the Villaresca Farm (Pavia), Italy with barns, silos, homes and homes for farm workers; Parish church, entrances and installations in Villaresca (Pavia); New nursery school at Lierna, Como; Holiday home and hotel on the Invrea plains in Varazze, Italy; Vocational Training School in Vimercate, Italy; Junior High School in Vimercate, Italy; Project and architectural assistance for the Cooperative Wine Producers''Association in Cantavenna, Italy; Project and architectural assistance for Nuova Fonderia Artistica Battaglia & C. Pier Giacomo Castiglioni is timeless: through his objects that are still in production or revisited, as well as in exhibitions and literature dedicated to the work of the Castiglioni brothers.

Pier Giacomo Castiglioni died in December 1968.
