"Asko Lax, born 1960 - Designer

The Art Center College of Design Pasadena graduate, Asko Lax, studied architecture before his design education and started his own company. After a few years' experience he decided that becoming an architect on the verge of depression had to give way to an international career of design. This decision proved good; not only has he become a furniture designer but a skilful industrial designer as well. In co-operation with Piiroinen he has created Dome, the line of chairs that relies on the innovative construction of the backrest. The appearance of the chair expresses the designer's living environment ? austere forms and Nordic tranquillity. He worked earlier as a Design Manager at Polar Electro Oy and runs at the moment his own company whose clientele consists of, besides Piiroinen, various leading international consumer electronics companies. Furniture industry still has a special place in his heart since the entity of a product, in its purest form, is a result of the designer,s process of thinking.
